Heavy Sliding Doors China Supplier Glass Weight Check

Estimate glass-only mass before approving a glazing change on a heavy sliding door from China. Use the actual pane area and add the thicknesses of the glass layers, not the cavities. Then request the complete moving-leaf mass and hardware confirmation: the estimate is not a door load rating.

Start with the Exact Exterior Door

The RGNL-120 thermal-break sliding door lists double, laminated insulating and triple-glazing configurations. A listed option is not automatic approval for every panel dimension. This review concerns that exterior heavy-duty system, not an ultra-slim interior hanging door.

The existing RGNL-120 configuration guide covers tracks and interfaces. Here the additional decision is how much glass-only mass a proposed change adds, and which further figures are needed before accepting it.

Verified RGNL-120 Configuration Basis

Published entry Keep separate from the estimate
120 mm two-track; 183 mm three-track Frame width is not pane width or a load limit.
6063-T5 aluminum; high track These entries do not establish moving-leaf mass.
30 mm glass slot Thickness accommodation and weight compatibility need separate confirmation.
Double: 5+15A+5; triple: 5+6A+5+6A+5 Confirm all panes, cavities and treatments in the returned glass schedule.

The source also lists a laminated insulating build-up. Its interlayer must be accounted for separately; it is not treated as extra glass thickness in the arithmetic below.

Sliding Door Glass Weight: A Glass-Only Estimate

The National Glass Association’s FB23-25 announcement states an assumed flat-glass density of 2,500 kg/m3. Using that assumption gives approximately 2.5 kg/m2 per millimetre of glass.

Estimated glass mass, kg = pane width, m × pane height, m × total glass thickness, mm × 2.5.

Use each pane’s manufactured dimensions from the returned glass schedule, not the structural opening, overall frame or visible daylight size. If the panes differ in area, calculate them individually and add their masses.

This is an approximate flat-glass calculation. It is not a certified finished-unit weight, hardware selection, structural design or handling instruction.

Compare Two Hypothetical Glazing Changes

Assume every glass layer in this arithmetic example measures 1.00 m by 2.00 m. These are hypothetical calculation dimensions, not an offered panel size, fabrication limit or approved project configuration.

Example glass layers Estimated glass-only mass
Two 5 mm layers; total glass 10 mm 1.00 × 2.00 × 10 × 2.5 = 50 kg.
Three 5 mm layers; total glass 15 mm 1.00 × 2.00 × 15 × 2.5 = 75 kg.
Change at the same assumed pane area 75 − 50 = 25 kg additional glass per unit.

The calculation counts glass layers only. Do not multiply an insulating unit’s overall thickness, including cavities, by the glass density. Retain the original build-up alongside the calculation so another reviewer can check what was counted.

Move from Glass Mass to a Door Decision

A moving leaf also contains its aluminum members, glazing components and hardware. An insulating-glass assembly includes components beyond its glass layers. Ask for the finished glazing mass and complete moving-leaf mass with the included components identified; do not treat either as the packed shipping weight.

For a laminated option, request the interlayer type, thickness and applicable mass information. Do not apply the flat-glass density to a polymer layer or silently omit it from a finished-assembly total.

  1. Record the original and revised glass codes against the same panel mark.
  2. Check actual pane dimensions and calculate the glass-only change.
  3. Request finished glazing and complete moving-leaf masses separately.
  4. Ask Rogenilan to confirm compatibility with the proposed roller, track and complete hardware arrangement.
  5. Keep approval open until the configuration and applicable design requirements have been reviewed.

The cited RGNL-120 table does not publish a verified maximum leaf weight or a universal roller capacity. Never infer either from the word heavy-duty, frame width, handle length or a different series.

Review the Quotation After a Glazing Change

Ask whether the revised build-up changes hardware, fabrication, packing or the delivery scope. Request a revised offer against the same panel marks, not an unexplained additional amount. Added glass mass does not establish a freight charge, handling method or fixed price increase.

Maintain separate quantities for moving and fixed units. A project glass total does not tell you the mass carried by one moving leaf. Product feasibility and site handling require their own confirmations.

Send a Weight-Review Request

  • Door and panel marks, moving/fixed status, quantities and drawing revision.
  • Manufactured pane dimensions and complete original/revised glass build-ups.
  • Glass-only worksheet, stated density assumption and excluded components.
  • Requested finished glazing mass, complete leaf mass and hardware compatibility return.
  • Project location, performance requirements, destination and delivery constraints.

Glass Weight FAQ

Is the 50 kg example a published RGNL-120 weight?

No. It is hypothetical glass-only arithmetic, not the actual weight of a supplied panel.

Should cavity width be counted as glass?

No. Sum the glass layers for this estimate; request a separate finished insulating-unit mass.

Does fitting the glass slot prove the leaf is acceptable?

No. Dimensional accommodation does not replace complete-leaf and hardware review.

Can the estimate select lifting equipment or installers?

No. Use confirmed supplied weights and a competent site-specific handling assessment.

Check the Glazing Change Before Release

Send Rogenilan the panel schedule and proposed glass revision. Request configuration-specific weight information and hardware confirmation before approving the change.
